Rule of thirds

A few days ago, in class, we learnt about the rule of thirds which is a compositional rule used by many photographers. rule states that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally-spaced horizontal lines and two equally-spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections. This creates more interest and energy with the picture.

Example of the rule of thirds
